Instead, the studio is focusing on an unannounced project and the upcoming TLoU multiplayer title, often referred to as "Factions." Druckmann emphasized the importance of pursuing projects that the team is passionate about and avoiding burnout. While fans may want a Part III, Druckmann stated that the "thing we were most excited for" is not another sequel to The Last of Us. The events of The Last of Us: Part II are expected to take place over multiple seasons, but a third season has not been greenlit.
