TL;DR

Payday 3 has experienced a significant decline in player count on Steam, losing 90% of its players in less than a month. The game currently sits at number 153 on the Steam most-played chart, while its predecessor, Payday 2, is experiencing a surge in popularity. Payday 3's always-online functionality has received criticism from players, and the developer, Starbreeze, is evaluating a new matchmaking partner to address the issues.
