TL;DR

A new report claims that Sony is already developing the PlayStation 5 Pro, with a tentative release date of late 2024. The mid-generation console upgrade could bring enhanced ray-tracing tools for universal 4K 60 FPS gaming. The PS5 Pro launch could assist Sony in maximizing the earning potential of the PlayStation 5 generation, as the original PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition consoles are still selling in vast numbers. The rumored PS5 with detachable disk drive still hasn’t got a confirmed unique name, and the PS5 Pro may end up being called something entirely different.
