Sony is reportedly developing a higher-spec version of the PS5, called the PS5 Pro, with a targeted release window of late 2024. The console would have better specs than the base PS5, allowing for better visuals and performance. The report cites a recent patent filed by PlayStation console architect Mark Cerny as a possible reason for this PS5 Pro. It's unclear to what extent developers have pushed the limits of the existing PS5 hardware, and recent chip shortages may impact the logic of this PS5 Pro. The next generation of PlayStation consoles, the PS6, will not be released until at least 2028.
