SEGA Aims for Sonic to Outshine Mario in Games and Movies

SEGA executive director, Osamu Ohashi, expressed in an interview that the company's goal is for the Sonic franchise to surpass Mario in popularity and success. Ohashi mentioned that while SEGA respects Mario, they have not yet achieved their goal of surpassing him. SEGA wants Sonic to be played worldwide, have successful movies, and even be featured at Universal Studios. The latest entries in both franchises, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Sonic Superstars, are available on the Nintendo Switch.
