Sega Rejects Microsoft's Acquisition Offer, Remains Close with Xbox

Sega has stated that it is not open to acquisitions from Microsoft or any other companies, and will remain part of Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. Despite rumors that Microsoft had considered buying Sega, the company's co-chief operating officer, Shuji Utsumi, dismissed the speculation. However, Utsumi emphasized that Sega maintains a strong relationship with Microsoft, even stronger than with Nintendo or Sony. While Microsoft had considered purchasing other gaming companies like Bungie and Square Enix, Sega's inclusion would have bolstered Microsoft's presence in Japan, where Xbox has historically struggled.
