Sony to shutter PS3 and PS Vita digital stores, with 2027 global closures

Sony will close the PS3 and PS Vita digital stores, starting with PS3 closures in select markets this August (Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua) and broader Latin American and Middle Eastern rollouts in late 2026, followed by a global shutdown for both consoles in July 2027. After that date, you won’t be able to buy new content, but previously purchased games can still be downloaded for the foreseeable future. Additionally, Sony will stop producing physical PlayStation discs for games released after January 2028, raising questions about preserving older releases given the finite lifespan of digital storefronts.
