TL;DR

Activision has announced that Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play will not be immediately available after the Season 1 Reloaded update goes live, citing the need to perform checks before enabling the mode. The feature allows players to progress through skill divisions in competitive play and will include restricted gameplay items to match CDL competitive rules. The update is set to go live on January 17, and while the duration of the delay is unclear, players are advised to stay tuned for further updates.
