Microsoft expects Sony to release a PlayStation 5 Slim console later this year, priced at $399.99, the same as the existing PS5 Digital Edition. Microsoft also believes Sony is preparing to launch a PS5 Pro console and a handheld version of the PS5 for under $300. These claims coincide with recent PS5 price promotions in Europe, leading to speculation that Sony may be clearing old stock before introducing new models. Xbox boss Phil Spencer stated that a mid-cycle upgrade for Xbox Series X is not a priority for Microsoft at the moment.
