ChatGPT: A Lifeline for Autistic Individuals

Autistic people are finding a new resource in ChatGPT, a chatbot that can help them communicate and navigate social interactions. Unlike therapists or social workers, the bot is always available and doesn't bill by the hour. However, the true impact of ChatGPT for therapeutic reasons is largely unknown, and the chatbot's flexibility also comes with some unaddressed problems, such as producing biased, unpredictable, and often fabricated answers, and raising privacy concerns. Despite its limitations, ChatGPT can still serve an important role in self-expression for people of all kinds, especially those who don't always have another person to converse with who understands their style.
