TL;DR

The 2020 Nest Thermostat now supports the Matter standard, allowing it to work with multiple smart home platforms, including Apple's Home system without additional bridges or hubs. The update will roll out over the next few weeks. The Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E are being investigated for Matter support. The update will allow users to control their Nest from multiple Matter-compliant systems and interact with other Matter-enabled devices.
