Bowers & Wilkins unveils the D5: the pinnacle of the 800 Series Diamond gets a tech overhaul

Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the D5, the fifth generation of its 800 Series Diamond, a seven-model lineup announced during its 60th anniversary year. The new range features refreshed finishes, redesigned top plates and enclosures, revised drive-unit pods and the Space Frame Bracing to cut vibrations, plus upgraded crossovers and aluminium top-plate coupling for improved openness, lower distortion and greater dynamics. The lineup includes seven models (805 D5, 804 D5, 803 D5, 802 D5, 801 D5 and two centre-channel models HTM81 D5/HTM82 D5) and accompanying stands, with UK prices from around £8,000 to £43,000 (US pricing up to about $65,000 for the flagship 801 D5).
