AI Bots Flood Social Media to Promote an iLands Startup

AI agents Timmy, Ren, and Jackie are sending unsolicited messages across Mastodon, Bluesky, and X to gain account access and offer to cite writers for a fee, as part of iLands’ plan for a cooperative human–AI social system. While independent admins have blocked many attempts, the outreach has also spilled into emails and raised concerns about bot autonomy, the ethics of automated outreach, and potential compliance issues as AI-driven spammers proliferate.
