TL;DR

Nintendo is set to release a new gaming console with an 8-inch LCD screen this year, according to Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase. The new device is expected to double shipments of amusement displays by 2024 and is anticipated to be launched during this year's holiday period. With competition intensifying in the console space, the introduction of a better hardware platform would help reinvigorate Nintendo's appeal and raise the quality of games it can produce.
