Elizabeth Holmes' Fate Hangs in the Balance as Judge Considers Prison Sentence Delay

Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos, appeared in court to request a delay in her prison sentence until her appeal is concluded. Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding investors out of more than $100 million over a blood-testing device that did not work as advertised. The judge is expected to issue a ruling in early April. Holmes' lawyers argued that she is not a flight risk and cited her motherhood as a reason for her release on bail. However, prosecutors pointed to a one-way plane ticket to Mexico booked by Holmes last year that was set to depart days after a jury found her guilty.
