Illinois wins $1.04B Powerball jackpot, largest prize of the year

A single Powerball ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers (4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and Powerball 9) to win a $1.040 billion jackpot—the eighth-largest in Powerball history and the biggest prize this year—with a cash option of $450.5 million; winners can choose the annuity paid over 30 years or a lump sum before taxes. The jackpot resets to $20 million for the next drawing on Aug. 15, and other prizes were won in several states.
