Walmart is reportedly closing three more stores, two in California and one in Maryland, adding to the list of shuttered stores in 2024. This comes after Dollar Tree announced the closure of nearly 1,000 Family Dollar stores. Walmart's Senior Director of Global Communications and Corporate Affairs, Charles Crowson, stated that the closures are based on financial performance and a thorough review process, emphasizing that the decisions are not made lightly. Dollar Tree also conducted a comprehensive review to identify and address underperforming stores, planning to close approximately 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of 2024 and additional locations over the next several years.
