Israel-Hamas Conflict Escalates: Hospitals Surrounded, Palestinians Seek Safe Passage

Thousands of Palestinians have fled from around Gaza City's main hospital, Shifa, after a series of strikes hit hospitals overnight, with Gaza medical officials accusing Israel of striking near four hospitals. The Israeli army alleges that Hamas hides in and under hospitals, but hospital staff deny this. The strikes have added to the growing exodus of people fleeing the combat zone in the north towards the south, where they still face ongoing bombardment and dire conditions. Over two-thirds of Gaza's population have fled their homes since the war began, and more than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
