Fatal Shooting Erupts Over Pride Flag at California Store
TL;DR
A clothing store owner in Southern California, Laura Ann "Lauri" Carleton, was shot and killed after an argument over a rainbow Pride flag hanging outside her business. The suspect, who made disparaging remarks about the flag before the shooting, was later killed in a confrontation with deputies. The incident highlights the ongoing violence and threats faced by the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the country. Carleton, who was not LGBTQ+, was known as an advocate for the community and will be deeply missed.
