Keffe D Convicted in Tupac Case, Investigator Sees Vindication

A jury convicted Duane “Keffe D” Davis of first-degree murder in Tupac Shakur’s 1996 drive-by, a case long advanced by former LAPD detective Greg Kading who led a task force and later wrote Murder Rap. Kading calls the verdict vindication, saying it confirms a prosecuted case rather than an unsolved mystery, while Davis’s defense argues about promises and public narratives. Davis had described in a 2008 proffer, under certain conditions, details of the shooting and the gun transfer, which prosecutors say helped secure the conviction. Sentencing is set for Oct. 13.
