"Missouri Executes Johnny Johnson for Brutal Murder of 6-Year-Old Girl"

Johnny Johnson, a man convicted of abducting and killing a 6-year-old girl in Missouri in 2002, was executed by lethal injection after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a request to block the execution. Johnson, who had schizophrenia, expressed remorse before his execution. The dissenting justices argued that executing someone with documented mental illness without a meaningful investigation into their competency is morally wrong. Johnson lured the girl to an abandoned factory, attempted to sexually assault her, and then killed her with a brick and a large rock. The execution marks the 16th in the U.S. this year.
