The victim, Coles Whalen, called the police after receiving creepy messages from the stalker, who was arrested and convicted of stalking. The stalker's public defenders argue that his conviction was a violation of his free speech and that he was mentally ill and never intended to hurt Whalen. Whalen, who had to leave Colorado and change careers due to the stalking, is torn about how to be present for the case and convey how truly horrifying the years were when she was on the receiving end of so many unwanted messages.
