Tragic Deaths: Florida Parents Arrested for Leaving Toddlers in Hot Cars

A Florida couple has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after their 18-month-old daughter died in a hot car following a July 4th party. The Polk County Sheriff believes the toddler's death was a result of negligence caused by the couple's use of illegal drugs and alcohol. This incident marks at least the 10th child to die in a hot car this year. The couple's two other children are currently with relatives while the Department of Children and Families investigates the infant's death. Advocacy group Kids and Car Safety is calling for technology that alerts drivers to check the backseat to be standard in vehicles.
