The reversal comes after a federal lawsuit was filed by students and the authors of the book, challenging the restrictions imposed by Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law. The lawsuit has been deemed moot since age restrictions on the book have been lifted, following a memo from the Florida Department of Education clarifying that the law only applies to classroom instruction and not school libraries. The book has been subject to censorship efforts and is among the 100 most challenged books in the past decade, according to the American Library Association.
