TL;DR

Barbie earns an impressive $22.3 million in box office previews, surpassing other highly anticipated films like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The female-skewing event movie is projected to open to around $110 million domestically. Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which earned $10.5 million in Thursday previews, is expected to open to $40-49 million. The summer box office is in need of a boost after several big-budget disappointments.
