TL;DR
Jimmy Kimmel revealed that he had planned to retire before the Writers Guild strike began, but has since changed his mind. He enjoys working and being paid during the summer break from his show. Kimmel's decision to retire would have been complicated due to his three-year extension with ABC. Kimmel, along with Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers, announced a new podcast to support staff affected by the ongoing strikes.
