"Mel Gibson Grateful for Robert Downey Jr.'s Support Amid Controversy"
TL;DR
Mel Gibson praised Robert Downey Jr. for supporting him during his career downfall following antisemitic remarks, with Downey urging Hollywood to forgive Gibson at an awards ceremony in 2011. Downey, who had his own struggles with legal troubles, empathized with Gibson's situation and advocated for giving him a second chance, similar to the opportunities he received in his career. Despite facing setbacks, both actors have continued to contribute to the entertainment industry, with Downey's role as Iron Man helping to rehabilitate his image in Hollywood.
