Writers Guild officially ends strike with overwhelming ratification of new deal

Members of the Writers Guild of America have overwhelmingly ratified a new labor contract with Hollywood studios, ending a strike that lasted nearly five months. The new agreement, which runs through May 1, 2026, was approved by 99% of the votes cast. While the writers celebrate their victory, negotiations between the studios and the actors union, SAG-AFTRA, continue, with actors still on strike. The Writers Guild East president called on the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to reach a fair agreement with the striking actors.
