"FTC Offers Fortnite Players Refunds for Unwanted In-Game Purchases"

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has reached a $245 million settlement with Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, over allegations of privacy violations and deceptive practices related to in-game purchases. As part of the settlement, Fortnite players can now apply for refunds for unwanted in-game purchases made between January 2017 and September 2022. Eligible players include those who were wrongfully charged for items they didn't want, had unauthorized charges made by their children, or had their accounts locked after complaining to their credit card company. The FTC has started sending out emails to potential refund recipients, and applicants must provide a claim number or Epic Account ID. The deadline to file a refund claim is January 17, 2024.
