Contaminated Eye Drops Linked to Fourth Death and Vision Loss Cases

Four deaths and 14 cases of vision loss have been linked to eye drops contaminated with a drug-resistant bacterium, with cases recorded across 18 states. The manufacturer of the EzriCare drops issued a recall of their product in February. Two additional deaths and half a dozen new cases of vision loss have been linked to the contaminated eye drops, which have been voluntarily recalled by their manufacturer. Patients who have used the eye drops and experience symptoms of infection should seek medical care immediately.
