COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Wanes as Misinformation Spreads

A new survey from the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania reveals that vaccine misinformation and lack of confidence in vaccines have continued to grow in the United States since the Covid-19 pandemic. The survey shows that more Americans now view vaccines as less safe and effective, with a decrease in confidence in vaccines such as MMR, pneumonia, and Covid-19. Misinformation about vaccines causing autism, cancer, and other illnesses has also increased. The percentage of Americans who believe vaccines are safe dropped, while the share of adults who don't think approved vaccines are safe nearly doubled. Experts emphasize the importance of combating misinformation and providing accurate information to address vaccine hesitancy.
