Mysterious Respiratory Illness Spreading Among Dogs in Multiple US States

An unusual respiratory illness affecting dogs has been reported in several states, including Oregon, Colorado, and New Hampshire. The illness causes lasting respiratory disease and pneumonia that does not respond to antibiotics. Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, nasal or eye discharge, and lethargy. The Oregon Department of Agriculture has documented over 200 cases since mid-August and is working with researchers to determine the cause. While the disease is still being investigated, veterinarians encourage dog owners to ensure their pets are properly vaccinated, maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and limit contact with other dogs.
