Southwestern Wisconsin measles outbreak sticks to three counties, with kids most affected

Wisconsin’s 2026 measles outbreak is concentrated in Grant, Iowa and Lafayette counties in the southwest, with 136 confirmed and 6 probable cases (144 statewide) as of the latest DHS update. Nearly half of cases are among kids aged 5–17 (47.9%), about 39% are adults, four people have been hospitalized and there have been no deaths. Health officials are contact-tracing exposures and urging vaccination for the unimmune, while the CDC reports 3,134 confirmed measles cases nationwide so far in 2026, up from 2,289 the prior year.
