Texas Judge Grants Woman's Request for Abortion Due to Lethal Fetal Abnormality

A judge in Texas has granted a temporary restraining order allowing a woman to terminate her pregnancy due to a lethal fetal abnormality. The woman, Kate Cox, and her husband filed a lawsuit after doctors said continuing the nonviable pregnancy posed a risk to her health and future fertility. Texas law prohibits abortion except to save the life of the pregnant patient, but before the overturn of Roe v. Wade, doctors were allowed to terminate pregnancies due to lethal fetal anomalies. The Texas Office of the Attorney General may seek intervention from a higher court.
