West Nile Virus Outbreak Spreads Across Western States

A horse in Weld County, Colorado, has been euthanized after contracting the first case of equine West Nile virus (WNV) reported in the state this year. West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne virus that can be transmitted to humans and animals. Last year, there were 206 confirmed cases of WNV in Colorado, including 20 fatalities.
