Prigozhin's Public Appearance and Putin's Deal with Wagner: A Double Down on Failure

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group mercenaries, has made his first public appearance since his failed mutiny against the Russian government. In a video posted on his Telegram account, Prigozhin addressed his soldiers in Belarus, stating that they will not be participating in the invasion of Ukraine and instead will be moving on to combat in Africa. He also mentioned the possibility of making the Belarusian army the second-strongest in the world. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously offered the mercenaries a chance to continue serving under the same commander.
