China's Controversial South China Sea Map Sparks International Outrage

The Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam have rejected China's latest map that asserts its claims to sovereignty in the South China Sea. The map, which includes a U-shaped line covering about 90% of the disputed waters, has been deemed baseless and in violation of international law. The Philippines called on China to act responsibly and abide by a 2016 arbitral ruling that declared the line had no legal grounds. Malaysia filed a diplomatic protest, while Taiwan emphasized its separate existence from the People's Republic of China. Vietnam also rejected China's claims based on the map, stating they have no value and violate Vietnamese and international laws.
