Auto Workers Divided on UAW Contract Offer as Support Grows Nationwide

Workers at the General Motors plant in Wentzville, Missouri, have rejected a contract offer from the United Auto Workers (UAW), although nationwide support for the contract is growing. The UAW contract offer, which includes wage increases and cost-of-living adjustments, has been approved by 54% of workers nationwide so far. The strike, which has idled tens of thousands of auto workers, has been one of the most significant union campaigns in recent years. Local union chapters will submit their results to the UAW International on Thursday, with a final result expected by late Thursday or early Friday.
