"Health care strike and government shutdown threaten D.C.'s Kaiser Permanente"

Tens of thousands of unionized healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente facilities across multiple states are prepared to strike from October 4 to October 7 if contract negotiations fail. This would be the largest healthcare strike in US history and the first national strike effort at Kaiser Permanente. The unionized staff, represented by SEIU-UHW, are demanding raises, job protections, improved benefits, and more notice for remote work. They also cite a staffing shortage crisis and overwork. If no agreement is reached, a longer and stronger strike is planned for November.
