New York City is suing Hyundai for negligence and being a public nuisance, accusing the automaker of sacrificing public safety for profits by not including common anti-theft technology in certain US model Kia and Hyundai vehicles. This led to a 660% increase in Hyundai and Kia vehicle thefts in the first four months of 2023 when compared to the previous year, resulting in safety issues and undue burden on police resources.
