Trump's Bid for New Trial Denied in E. Jean Carroll Case

A federal judge has denied Donald Trump's request for a new trial in the E. Jean Carroll case, where she accused him of sexually assaulting and defaming her. Trump argued that the jury's award of $2 million in compensatory damages for sexual abuse was excessive and that the $2.7 million in compensatory damages for defamation should be reduced. However, the judge ruled that the evidence convincingly established that Trump forcibly penetrated Carroll, causing harm. Trump is also appealing the verdict, while Carroll's separate defamation lawsuit against him is scheduled for January 2024.
