Super Typhoon Saola Threatens Philippines and Taiwan

Super Typhoon Saola has intensified and is expected to bring heavy rain and powerful winds to the northern provinces of the Philippines, including important rice and corn growing areas. The provinces of Isabela, Cagayan, Ilocos, and the Cordillera region are at risk of flooding and landslides. Saola is also expected to affect provinces on the main Luzon island and the capital, Manila, over the next three days. The typhoon is forecasted to turn north and make landfall over southern Taiwan later in the week.
