Congress Fails to Reach Deal on Ukraine Aid and Border Security, Senate to Continue Negotiations

Congress is leaving Washington without a deal on passing wartime support for Ukraine, but Senate negotiators and the Biden administration are still working on a border security compromise. The Senate plans to return next week to pass the $110 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and other national security issues, as well as finalize a deal on asylum restrictions at the U.S. border. The House, however, has shown no sign of returning to push the legislation through. The Biden administration would have to rely on dwindling funds for Ukraine if the impasse continues through the holidays.
