"Congress Fails to Reach Ukraine Aid and Border Security Deal, Senate to Continue Negotiations"

Congress has left Washington without reaching a deal on passing wartime support for Ukraine, but Senate negotiators and the Biden administration are still working on a border security compromise. The Senate plans to return next week to pass the $110 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and other national security issues, as well as finalize a deal on asylum restrictions at the U.S. border. The House, however, has shown no intention of returning to push the legislation through. Failure to resolve the impasse would leave the Biden administration relying on dwindling funds for Ukraine, while an emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin recommitted to his goals in the war.
