"Congressional Leaders and White House Reach Funding Deal to Avert Shutdown"
TL;DR
Congressional leaders and the White House have reached an agreement on funding for the Department of Homeland Security, finalizing talks on a broader funding package as the deadline to avert a government shutdown nears. The agreement on DHS funding, which came Monday night, moved Congress closer to resolving the government funding dilemma after months of disagreement and shutdown threats. However, legislative text is not expected before Wednesday, leaving a tight timeline to approve the legislation and stave off a partial government shutdown by a Friday night deadline.
