DeSantis Drops Out: Mixed Reactions and Future Legacy
TL;DR
Anti-Trump pundits, who regularly insist that former President Trump is a threat to democracy, celebrated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropping out of the 2024 Republican presidential contest, despite it benefiting their "biggest bogeyman." Pundits such as CNN’s Jim Acosta and "The View" co-host Ana Navarro openly expressed joy over DeSantis' exit, suggesting that their issue may be with populism rather than just Trump. The media's reaction to DeSantis' withdrawal reflects their complex relationship with Trump and their preference for the drama he brings, according to some critics.
