China has vowed to retaliate against the European Union's sanctions on Chinese companies over alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the sanctions were based on "lies and disinformation" and that China would take "necessary measures" to protect its interests. The EU imposed sanctions on four Chinese officials and one entity on Monday, prompting China to impose counter-sanctions on ten European individuals and four entities.
