TL;DR

New York Governor Kathy Hochul endorsed Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani for NYC mayor, citing his focus on affordability and leadership qualities, despite previous disagreements and the broader Democratic establishment's hesitations. Mamdani, a democratic socialist with strong progressive support, faces opposition from some party leaders and President Trump, who has criticized him as a 'communist.' Polls show Mamdani leading in the race ahead of the November election.
