TL;DR

Congressman Jerrold Nadler, a long-serving Democratic representative from Manhattan and former Judiciary Committee chairman, announced he will not seek reelection in 2026, citing a desire for generational change within the party. His retirement is expected to lead to a competitive Democratic primary in his district, with potential candidate Assemblyman Micah Lasher possibly running to succeed him.
