California Senator Dianne Feinstein, the oldest member of the US Senate, has asked to temporarily step aside from the judiciary committee after two fellow Democrats urged her to resign, citing her inability to fulfill her duties. Feinstein's absence has complicated President Joe Biden's efforts to confirm federal judges in the Senate, which has only a slim Democratic majority. Feinstein revealed last month she was in hospital with shingles and will work from home in San Francisco until her medical team advises it is safe to travel.
